Katherine Applegate wrote her first story when she was in fourth grade. It was about a pig named Alice. She always loved to tell stories, and being a writer was a dream for a long time. When Katherine was young, she really, really, REALLY didn’t like to read. That’s because she hadn’t found The Right Book. Finding The Right Book is like searching for a good friend. It can take a long time. And it’s different for each person. For her, The Right Book was a beautiful novel called Charlotte’s Web. Katherine lives with her husband (who writes as the author Michael Grant), their 2 children, and their 3 pets, in Tiburon, California.
